Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games Utilities
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The History:

I originally wrote a small utility for the first Jagged Alliance a year or so
ago, called Qheal, for quick heal. It healed all the mercs in the quick save
file. While using did it sorta unbalance game play, it did have it's uses,
and was very very popular, bringing me email from all over the world.

Anyway, as soon as DG came out, I was deluged by requests to write a new one.
Well, not exactly deluged, but a couple people sent me requests. One, the
guy at AOL that verified it when i uploaded the first qheal. I also ran into
Henry Chang, who was looking for someone to write an editor, and gave me most
the info I needed to update qheal.

And thanks to Mr. Chang, here is qheal2, along with another program, jagmax,
which maxs out the merc's stats to 100, and medic!, a program that just
treats your mercs wounds , but doesn't heal damage.

The programs:

There are three programs. Qheal2.exe, Jagmax.exe, and Medic!.exe

Just put them into the same directory where Jagged Alliance Deadly Games is.
Usually it's just \Deadly

Qheal2.exe
----------------

This programs heals your mercenaries wounds. Very handy. If only it were as
easy in real life.

To run, save your game in the first slot, and then goto dos (either exit the
program or flip to a dos prompt under Win 95 or OS/2 or Linux or whatever)
and type qheal2. Your mercs in save game slot number zero (the first one)
have now been healed

Jagmax.exe
-----------------

It works the same exact way qheal2.exe does. Only, it maxes our your mercs
stats to 100

Medic!.exe
-----------------

Basically it's like qheal2, only it doesn't heal damage your mercs suffer.
It's aimed towards people that find qheal2 too much of a cheat. It
essentially just bandages your mercs, and stops them from suffering any more
damage from blood loss or whatever.

Problems and Frequently Asked Questions
----------------------------------------

Q. When I type qheal2 inside JA:DG, nothing happens to my mercs?

A. Not being a program that stays resident in memory (ie, it's not a TSR),
qheal2 works on save game files, and must be run from a dos prompt. Exit to
dos and run it.

Q. How come it only works on slot zero?

A. Mostly because I'm lazy. I was going to add a command line switch which
would let you pick which save game file to use, but it would have taken a
lot of my time (I'm not that much of an expert at C), and I can't find the
book for my compiler, so I'd be searching the depths of my memory as how to
do it.

But if enough people nag me about it, or ask politely, and I find my book,
I might add it in a future version.

Q. My Mercs seem to get fatigued quickly when using qheal2

A. Actually, they just lose energy when they get shot. Because qheal2 only
fixes the damage, not restore the stamina (I did that on purpose), your mercs
will be exhausted if they get shot several times in a scenario.

Finally
-----------------

These three programs are freeware. Which means, I don't expect anything for
them. However, if you find it useful, and can spare it, send me a dollar or
a postcard.

And if you have any problems/comments, etc, let me know, and especially if
you find any bugs or if they don't seem to work 100% as advertised.

Thanks:

I'd really really like to thank Henry Chang for the basic info on the offsets
(I was too lazy to look for them myself). Once he provided me with the
location for the merc's current health, I was off and running.

I'd also like to thank Sir Tech and Ian Currie for a great game.
